Every year, The Woodlands hosts IRONMAN competitors during the week of the Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas.
However, the adults weren’t the only ones training for the race. More than 500 kids of all ages had also been preparing for the 5th annual Children’s Memorial Hermann IRONKIDS Texas Fun Run that kicked off the week.
Traditionally, the event held multiple races that catered to children, from toddlers to preteens, but with the event’s growth, a new age bracket was added for the toughest of competitors.
A Diaper Dash took place for crawlers aged 6 months to 2 years, and little Olive Martin was the winner of the inaugural event.
“She just turned 1 year old so we were kind of scared that she wouldn’t go across the finish line,” said Chris Martin, Olive’s father. “But it was all in good fun and ended up turning out pretty great.”
Everyone who participated in the various races were winners and Memorial Hermann is proud to play a role in making the community healthier.
“An event like this means so much for Memorial Hermann,” said Josh Urban, SVP and CEO of Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center. “It’s a way that we can give back and celebrate health and wellness with our community.”
