Going Back to School with New Hips.

After 33 years as a physical education coach, Eddie Carlton was considering retirement or taking a classroom job because severe hip pain was slowing him down.  A former college athlete, Carlton had difficulty putting his socks on as his pain steadily worsened.  To ease the pain, he sometimes taught his PE classes while seated and even walked backwards through the hallways when no one was looking.  This father of six was ready to turn in his whistle until he was referred to Eddie Huang, MD, an orthopedic surgeon affiliated with the Joint Center at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital.  Two hip surgeries later, Carlton is back to running with his students who can barely keep up with him. Watch his amazing comeback.
