Volunteer physicians affiliated with Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital are offering on-site sports physicals to Humble ISD, New Caney ISD and Sheldon ISD middle and high school athletes during April and May.
In addition, Memorial Hermann Northeast is offering on-site electrocardiograms (EKGs) for in-coming 9th grade student athletes who attend the middle schools affiliated with the Humble and New Caney high schools. EKGs can detect problems with the electrical activity of the heart. The electrical system makes the heart contract and pump blood.
The single-day event has already been held for Summer Creek and Porter high schools. The remaining schedule is as follows:
- Humble High School – May 1
- AtascocitaHigh School – May 15
- C.E. KingHigh School – May 22
- New Caney High School – May 28
Physicals are required by the University Interscholastic League (UIL) for any student who wishes to participate in athletics. Results are reported to each athlete on site along with recommended follow-up if problems are detected.
Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital is the official sponsor of Humble ISD and New Caney ISD and has sponsored a wide range of educational programs and screenings for the student athletes, the coaches and the trainers.
