Corinne Daniel, RN, jokes that she’s been to nursing school twice. Once for herself, and once with her daughter, Ciera Daniel, RN.
“I remember when Ciera was going through nursing school. I encouraged her to take certain classes I knew would be vital to her everyday work in the field. There were some sleepless nights, helping her study and helping explain concepts. I definitely tried to support her as much as I could,” Corinne said.
Ciera knew she wanted to be a nurse from an early age, thanks to her mother’s influence.
“She would come home and tell me stories about how she impacted people’s lives, how their lives impacted hers, and I just wanted to be a part of that,” Ciera said.
Ciera graduated nursing school and joined the Nurse Residency Program at Memorial Hermann in 2019.
“Memorial Hermann was my first choice. I had visited my mother on her unit over the years and I knew it was a good work environment,” Ciera said.
Now, both Ciera and Corinne work at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, although in different units. Ciera works in the medical-surgical unit, while Corinne works in the telemetry unit at Memorial Hermann Heart & Vascular Institute at Memorial Hermann Southwest.
“I didn’t want her to feel like mommy was watching over her, so I’m glad that she’s getting experience away from me,” Corrine said.
”We see a lot of different types of patients and we have a diverse staff. I am glad that she’ll get to experience a variety of scenarios that will hopefully give her a solid foundation to her nursing career,” Corinne said.
Corinne and Ciera Daniel are among the many nurses across Memorial Hermann Health System who are dedicated to providing high-quality health care while maintaining a caring and considerate attitude. In honor of Nurses Week, we are recognizing them for their service. Their hard work and compassion are appreciated 365 days of the year!
